About the Artist and Paintings Photo
of the Artist, 2008 Born and raised in Kansas, he grew up appreciating the broad expanses of the American West. After receiving a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, where he studied with Neil Welliver and other well-known contemporary painters and sculptors, he returned west to settle in Southern Colorado. Today Myers works as a ranger at Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve in Colorado, where he does interpretive programs. He lives with his wife, Rhoda, and children in the San Luis Valley (visit the Myers Family Page). They actively serve in music and leadership in a local Christian church. As Johann Sebastian Bach did on his music manuscripts, he signs the back of each painting "To the Glory of God". To Myers, nature - and even our creativity - are gifts from God. Because of this conviction, all net profits from the sale of his work each year are donated to charities, such as the Alamosa Women's Resource Center, La Puente Homeless Shelter, etc. Paintings may be purchased from the artist's studio or through Insight Art Connection. Contact the artist by email, or by phone at 719-580-4826. "When we visit wilderness areas, we get a glimpse of what the world was like in the beginning," says Myers. "It can draw us closer to our Creator. Most are familiar with the first line in the Bible from the book of Genesis: 'In the beginning God created the heavens and the Earth.' This is beautifully echoed later in the Bible, about Christ: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made. In Him was life, and that life was the light of people. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. "The intricate patterns and beauty found in wilderness are not just something that was there at the dawn of creation. It is there today for all people in the world to enjoy. It gives us glimpses into the love and beauty of the One who made it." Designated wilderness
